5th April 2015 The First 1001 Days – From Conception to 2 years by Ruth Adams

My first question, on hearing about this report was, ‘Why haven’t I heard about it in the papers or on the news?’ It came out on 25th February 2015 and despite reading two newspapers each day and always watching the news, I hadn’t seen anything about this ground breaking report.

Why aren’t we shouting these findings from the rooftops? Why wasn’t it on the front pages of all the newspapers?

Last week, almost a month after it came out, I read ‘Building Great Britons’ – an all-party Parliamentary Report, ‘The First 1001 Days – from Conception to 2 years’. It’s brilliant to see there’s now support from politicians of all parties for this critical time in a baby’s development. It’s a well laid out document and definitely worth reading. Another fascinating article, one that sheds light on some of the challenges that vulnerable children face is – ‘Grandma’s experiences leave a mark on your genes’.

It took me several readings to actually begin to understand the concepts, but it was well worth the time.

Who could you pass these two pieces of research on to?
Your child’s school? GP? Friends and family?
Let’s make sure as many people as possible are aware of these findings.
